Shop Hours Expanded

It’s been a busy winter and spring down at the shop. Lots has been accomplished in two hour increments since opening January 15th. Now that the shop has the basic structure in place, we are expanding our hours!

SHOP HOURS
Thursdays 5pm – 7pm
Saturdays 10am – 1pm

Once we get overhead lights installed we’ll expand our Thursday hours. Donations are accepted any time the shop is open. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here: http://bit.ly/d6cADg

Downtown Workshop

The Topeka Community Cycle Project and Friends of the Free State Capitol, Inc. have entered into an agreement allowing the TCCP to lease the space at 423 S. Kansas Ave. in downtown Topeka, KS for a community bicycle workshop. Let the fun begin.

Non-Profit Registration

The Topeka Community Cycle Project is now recognized by the State of Kansas as a non-profit organization. This organization designation will assist our efforts in securing a community workspace in Topeka.

Fun Fact: the State of Kansas requires a term to end any non-profit’s name and apparently “Project” is not on the approved list. So on paper with the state we are the Topeka Community Cycle Project College. Say that five times fast…

Workspace

The Topeka Community Cycle Project is currently working to secure a space in Topeka that will allow for a community-run learning space open to the public. Similar to the on-site workshops, this space will allow the community to have access to the tools and training necessary to repair and maintain a bicycle. Through bicycle repair education we aim to promote the ideals of empowerment through self-reliance, sustainability, and healthful living in the Topeka area.

If you know of a property owner interested in supporting the Topeka Community Cycle Project through the use of their space, please leave a comment.

Topeka Rescue Mission Workshop

Planning is under way for an on-site bicycle repair workshop at the Topeka Rescue Mission. Many of those receiving services at the Mission use bicycles for their sole mode of transportation besides walking. Ensuring they have road-ready and safe bicycles is essential. The workshop is planned for late January or early February. Stay posted.
